Project: Corporate Headquarters

IH MISSISSIPPI VALLEY CREDIT UNION

IHMVCU has a strong 90-year history in our community. Today, it has grown to be the largest credit union in the Quad Cities area. With 13 locations in Illinois and Iowa — most recently Des Moines — their 450-person team serves more than 140,000 members. IHMVCU has used IMPACT agreements and reliable union tradesmen to construct six of its locations through the years.

QC'S LARGEST CREDIT UNION BUILDS WITH IMPACT

If you’ve ever driven Moline’s River Drive or simply looked across the Mississippi from the western shore, you’ve seen the magnificent structure that is the IHMVCU Headquarters.

The eye-catching 92,000-square-foot, four-story structure was built in 18 months by skilled union tradesmen working under an IMPACT Construction Agreement. Its October 2019 opening addressed existing and anticipated needs for the member-owned financial cooperative long centered around providing a family culture for members and employees alike.

The new headquarters brought together more than 300 employees who previously worked in locations throughout the Quad Cities. The central location’s intention was to foster collaboration and enhance productivity.

IHMVCU received rich attention to detail from the highly-trained tradesmen guaranteed by the IMPACT Construction Agreement.

IHMVCU President & CEO Brian Laufenberg

“The IMPACT agreement and the local tradespeople constructed our new home and were the lynchpin in the success of the building. IHMVCU from the very beginning was focused on giving back to its members and community with the construction of the new facility by partnering with local contractors and suppliers as much as possible.

With the exposed ceilings, one can clearly see the many examples of the quality of the craftsmanship delivered during the construction process. There were many other technical elements of the building, and the skilled tradespeople (many of whom are members) drew from years of experience to make sure our vision came to life.”

BUILDING FEATURES:

  • 600 panes of vision glass providing natural lighting and a three-story atrium that encourages the use of wide stairways complete with a river view.
  • The atrium is illuminated by a digital multiplex system used to express the IHMVCU brand through LED lighting. For special occasions, the lighting can be programmed for an array of colors — for example, red, white and blue on the Fourth of July.
  • Diverse workspaces from individual offices and workstations to a variety of spaces for collaboration. A covered fourth-floor patio anchors the east side of the building and overlooks a green space designed for community and credit union events.

The IMPACT Agreement is a partnership between the building trades and contractors to provide a high quality product to owners and users. The relationship between labor, management, and owners helps ensure the primary goal of completion of a quality project in the most cost-efficient and timely basis.
