Iowa American Water Co. works under the motto: “We keep life flowing.”
Workflow, however, was a bit of a problem before the local utility moved its headquarters from Grand Avenue in Davenport to a three-acre site at Davenport’s Research Parkway.
The new 41,000-square-foot office headquarters and storage facility replaces a 21,000-square-foot that was so filled to capacity, closets were converted to office space.
The new facility was built by Construction Manager Bush Construction, enlisting more than a dozen union subcontractors. It was built in a year for a total cost of $14 million.
Another critical need the project fulfilled was to bring services to north Davenport, so that water to service this growing part of Scott County doesn’t have to be pumped from the plant on the river. In 2025, a water tower will be built adjacent to the facility.
There also are 2.5 acres of paved storage area for pipe, valves, and hydrants.
